Horticulturist Superstar

Horticulturist (Casual) - available Weekdays and Saturday

We’re looking for our next experienced horticulturist to join our small but growing team.

About The Role:

You will be working closely with the owners and wider team of the nursery to help achieve our 2024/25 horticulture goals.

You will have a strong ability to self direct and understand what steps need to be taken to get the job done. You aren’t afraid to ask questions and contribute ideas to improve how we work. You will have a genuine passion for plants and love talking to people about them! This role includes a portion of customer service and it is expected that you will help guide customers in selecting appropriate plants and products for their needs along with caring for our nursery plants.

Key Duties:

  • General nursery maintenance - watering, pest and disease identification and treatment

  • Plant production - potting on and propagation

  • Mixing potting mix recipes

  • Fertilising and nutrition management

  • Helping customers in store and completing sales

  • Merchandising and ensuring the store looks the best it can be

  • Work within our garden maintenance team for our Bonville Garden clients. Here our staff look after and maintain a small group of residential gardens when required.

Critical Experience - applicants must show examples of the below experience to be considered for the role:

  • Cert 3 Horticulture minimum

  • Drivers license

Desired Qualities - Applicants who are able to provide examples of the below qualities will be highly regarded:

  • Past work in a nursery or garden centre (Especially native nurseries)

  • Experience in native plant care including propagation

  • Customer service & strong communication abilities

  • Passionate about plants and developing a successful horticulture career

Environmentally minded – We care a lot about mother earth. Our practices always have this as the main driving factor behind our actions
